Ultimately this unsolicited email is delivered to the user’s PC and it is here where this mail can cause the most damage.  Messages with viruses trick employees into opening them, allowing the virus to damage, delete, replicate, or even capture and send confidential information back to the author.  Viruses cost companies thousands of dollars each year in labor to remove the infection, the loss of data and down time, or the unauthorized use of information.  Spam delivered to the local PC causes hundreds of messages to hide real messages, slow down the local PC or make the use of email impossible or a complete nightmare.  Employees become distracted or even offended by the content of this unsolicited email.
